Upaya · Supportive Remedies
Remedies: Gem Therapy & Mantra Sadhana
Gemstones and mantra practice, considered only after diagnosis, and always as support for awareness and action, never a substitute.
Astrological remedies, called upaya in Jyotish, are supportive measures: a gemstone, a mantra practice or another traditional discipline, used alongside your own effort. Sunil ji offers two of them: gem therapy and mantra sadhana. Neither is prescribed by default. The first question is never "Which remedy?" but "Is a remedy needed at all, and why?" A recommendation comes only after understanding the person, the horoscope, the phase of life and the actual concern.
Sometimes the right answer is a gemstone. Sometimes it is a mantra practice. And sometimes it is simply that you do not need a remedy. That answer can be as valuable as prescribing one.
No remedy can replace awareness and action.
Supportive, never a substitute
A gemstone cannot replace action. It cannot repair a relationship without communication or build a business without strategy. A mantra can become a source of focus, discipline and spiritual support, but a career problem still needs skill, and a business problem still needs a plan.
Remedies are never a substitute for medical, psychological, financial or other qualified professional care. If you are unwell, please see a doctor. A traditional practice may sit alongside that care, never in its place.
A consultation should leave you with more understanding, not more dependence. You should never be pushed into a purchase or a practice through fear. A line like "wear it immediately or something bad will happen" is a reason for caution, not a reason to buy.
Questions asked before any remedy
Diagnosis before prescription. These are settled first:
- What is the actual concern, in your own words?
- What does the horoscope indicate, within the tradition being followed?
- Is support genuinely required, or would practical action be enough?
- Can you realistically sustain the practice being considered?
- For a gemstone: will its identity and treatment be verified independently of the astrological recommendation?
The two remedies offered
Each has its own page explaining the method in detail.
When the answer is not a remedy
Many concerns people bring to an astrologer are really about decisions, patterns and priorities. For these, life coaching, built on awareness, alignment and action, may help more than any stone or mantra. Where the question involves the home or workplace, the answer may lie in the space itself: see Astro-Vastu.
Rudraksha and yantra recommendations are not part of this practice.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a remedy at all?
Not always. A remedy is considered only when there is a clear reason for it, and sometimes the honest answer is that none is needed.
Can a gemstone or mantra cure an illness?
No. Remedies are supportive practices within a tradition and are never a substitute for medical or psychological care. Please consult a qualified doctor for any health concern.
Can I choose a gemstone by my rashi?
Choosing by Moon sign or Sun sign alone is an oversimplification. Two people with the same rashi can have very different horoscopes, so suitability is assessed from the full chart first.
Can I start a mantra I found online?
Many devotional mantras are practised openly, but it helps to know the mantra's source, meaning, purpose and method first. Some mantras are traditionally learned through a guru or lineage; different traditions answer this differently.
Can a remedy promise a result?
No. No responsible consultant should promise wealth, marriage, health or success because a remedy is used. Your choices, effort and discipline remain yours.
Begin with understanding
Share your concern, your birth details or your floor plan. The first step is always diagnosis — remedies come later, and only if they are needed.
